Competency certification serves as proof of recognition of the competencies of participants of the National Internship Program (known as MagangHub) thereby increasing their competitiveness in the workforce.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia’s Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, emphasized that competency certification is an essential component for graduates of the National Internship Program, in addition to the internship program completion certificate.
Competency certification serves as proof of recognition of the competencies of participants of the National Internship Program (known as MagangHub), thereby increasing their competitiveness in the workforce.
Competency certification, issued by Indonesia’s National Professional Certification Agency (known as BNSP), is provided free of charge by the Ministry of Manpower through vocational training centers in the country’s different regions.
“The government is facilitating certification for the MagangHub participants who have completed the internship program to improve workforce competitiveness," Yassierli said in a press release from the Ministry of Manpower's Public Relations Bureau on Sunday (May 31, 2026).
Yassierli explained that MagangHub alumni who wish to obtain BNSP competency certification must register online and choose one of 15 available certification schemes based on their field and work experience gained during the internship.
After completing the registration process, participants will take an in-person competency test at 21 Professional Certification Institutions (known as LSP) within the Ministry of Manpower's Central Technical Implementation Unit (UPTP) network.
"After registering online, the competency test will be conducted offline or in-person at the 21 Professional Certification Institutions through the Ministry of Manpower's UPTP network, which are spread across various regions," he explained.
The 21 UPTPs consist of six Vocational and Productivity Training Centers (known as BBPVP) in Bandung, Bekasi (the two cities in West Java Province), Makassar (South Sulawesi Province), Medan (North Sumatra Province), Semarang (Central Java Province), and Serang (Banten Province).
In addition, there are 15 Vocational and Productivity Training Centers (BPVP), located in Ambon (Maluku Province), Banda Aceh (Aceh Province), West Bandung (West Java Province), Bantaeng (South Sulawesi Province), Banyuwangi (East Java Province), Belitung (Kepulauan Bangka Belitung Province), Kendari (Southeast Sulawesi Province), East Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara Province), Padang (West Sumatra Province), Pangkep (South Sulawesi Province), Samarinda (East Kalimantan Province), Sidoarjo (East Java Province), Sorong (Southwest Papua Province), Surakarta (Central Java Province), and Ternate (North Maluku Province).
Yassierli emphasized that the entire certification process for MagangHub alumni is free of charge and is conducted directly at the Ministry of Manpower's vocational training centers.
"This certification serves as valid proof of the skills they have mastered, making it easier for participants to be absorbed by industry," he said.
MagangHub 2026 continues to expand with a target of reaching 150,000 participants. To strengthen the quality of graduates, the program completion process is also integrated with competency certification.
"It is important for MagangHub graduates to have competency certification as formal recognition of their skills and to strengthen their position in the job market," Yassierli said.
