Indonesia explores digital economic cooperation with S Korea

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – In order to explore cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea on the field of digital economy and start-ups, Indonesian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Gandi Sulistiyanto has held a meeting with the Director of Kakao International Cooperation on Jeju Island.

During the meeting, the ambassador said that Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest social media users, namely 191.4 million social media users as of January 2022, according to an official statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul received here on Thursday.

The ambassador said that there is great potential for collaboration between Kakao which is a South Korean internet company, and digital economy players and start-ups in Indonesia.

In order to develop wide-scale cooperation, the ambassador emphasized the importance of starting cooperation by having local partners in tourist areas in Indonesia such as Mandalika in West Nusa Tenggara province and Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara province.

Sulistiyanto further emphasized that the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul is active in bridging and bringing together business actors between the two countries, including Kakao and its potential partners in Indonesia.

Kakao Corporation is the owner of various subsidiaries including Kakao Talk, Kakao Bank and Kakao Entertainment.
