Indonesia gets additional hajj quota of 20,000 for 2024

An additional hajj quota for Indonesia in the 2024 hajj season is 20,000 pilgrims after the country’s President Joko Widodo met the Crown Prince, concurrently Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al-Saud on Thursday (Oct. 19).

 

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia received an additional hajj quota of 20,000 pilgrims in the 2024 hajj season after the country’s President Joko Widodo met the Crown Prince, concurrently Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al-Saud, on Thursday (19 /10).

“In less than 12 hours, a commitment of an additional hajj quota of at least 20,000 for next year was given to Indonesia,” President Widodo said in his statement on Friday (Oct. 20).

In the meeting, the president explained that the hajj waiting list in Indonesia has been very long, and in fact, currently the waiting time for Indonesian prospective hajj pilgrims to depart for the pilgrimage has reached 47 years so the country needs an additional hajj quota.

“And thank God, the response was very positive,” the head of state added.

The president is grateful that the working visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been completed and ran smoothly and produced productive results.

The working visit included a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al-Saud and attending the ASEAN-GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) Summit.
