Humanitarian disasters in Palestine due to Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip occurred following the cutting off drinking water supplies, electricity and fuel networks, as well as the destruction of various vital public facilities, such as hospitals.

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Director of the Friendship and Civilization Studies Foundation in Indonesia, Dr. Ahed Abu Al-Atta, warned of humanitarian disasters due to Israel’s acts and attacks on the Gaza Strip, ignoring the civil rights of Palestinians in the war.

Israel continues to increase its attacks on the Gaza Strip, including a number of civilian buildings, roads, schools, mosques and all components of Palestinian life, Abu Al-Atta said in Jakarta, Wednesday.

Currently, Israel has cut off drinking water supplies, electricity and fuel networks which could result in humanitarian disasters, he said, adding that hospitals, health facilities and other public facilities have stopped operating, and this could result in a complete halt of the lives of Palestinians in Gaza.

According to Abu Al-Atta, Israeli attacks also targeted health institutions, and to date at least nine health buildings, including the Ministry of Health Building, Al-Rimal Hospital and the International Eye Center, were destroyed.

The attack also destroyed 15 ambulances, leaving the health system and medical teams in Gaza working in critical and unsafe conditions, he added.

“The Israeli attacks which are targeting health facilities have killed six medical personnel and injured 15 others,” Abu Al-Atta said.

He further said that Israel also prohibited the entry of necessary basic commodities such as milk for babies and children, thereby exacerbating the humanitarian disasters in Palestine.

The Israeli attacks, which also resulted in increasing civilian casualties, including children and women, targeted Gaza residents’ houses and refugee camps, he explained.

To date, the total number of Gaza residents who have died has increased to 950 people, 260 of whom are children, 230 women and 5,000 injured.

The Israeli attacks also resulted in the deaths of eight journalists and injuries of 20 others.

We call on civil society institutions, as well as international institutions and governments to move quickly to prevent the Israeli policy on occupation, and open a humanitarian sector in the Gaza Strip.
