Through the 114th International Labour Conference, Indonesia affirmed its commitment to actively promoting its national interest and strengthening efforts to create a fair, inclusive, productive, and sustainable employment.

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesian Minister of Manpower Yassierli is leading a delegation to the 114th International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland.

At the annual forum of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Minister Yassierli brought up Indonesia’s national interest amidst changes in the global employment.

Yassierli stated that Indonesia's presence at the 114th ILC is part of an effort to strengthen worker protection, maintain business continuity, and ensure continued job creation.

"Indonesia is here to represent the voice of national employment. We must manage changes in the workplace so that workers remain protected, job opportunities become more open, businesses continue to operate, and investment is maintained," Minister Yassierli said on Sunday (June 7).

According to him, the ILC forum is important because the issues discussed are directly related to the future of manpower, ranging from certainty of protection for workers, job opportunities for the people, protection of women workers, the rights of digital platform workers, to business continuity that become a source of job creation.

Those issues align with the theme of the 114th International Labour Conference (ILC) in 2026, ‘Navigating Change Through Inclusive Social Dialogue’.

Under the theme, the ILO emphasizes the importance of inclusive, representative, and results-oriented social dialogue so that changes in the world of work can be managed fairly and sustainably.

The minister considered that this approach is relevant to Indonesia's needs in facing various employment challenges, ranging from digitalization, the development of the platform economy, the dynamics of industrial relations, and global pressures on the labor market.

"In a challenging global situation, social dialogue is key. Workers, employers, and the government must continue to build constructive communication to maintain conducive industrial relations and ensure business continuity," he said.

Within this framework, Indonesia's attention will be directed to several strategic issues at the 114th ILC.

Those issues include protecting the rights of digital platform workers, gender equality in the workplace, including the protection of women workers, strengthening social and tripartite dialogue, and supporting Palestine's increased participation in ILO forums.

The Head of the Cooperation Bureau of the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower, M. Arif Hidayat, stated that as part of the 114th International Labour Conference (ILC), the Minister of Manpower will deliver a National Statement at the 114th ILC Plenary Session.

The minister will also attend the Asia Pacific Group (ASPAG) Labour Ministers' Meeting.

In addition, the minister will submit the original instrument of ratification of ILO Convention No. 188 concerning work in the fishing sector to the ILO Director-General.

The submission is part of Indonesia's commitment to strengthening protection for workers, including those in the fishing sector.

The ILC is the highest ILO forum, bringing together representatives of governments, workers, and employers from various countries.

Through this forum, Indonesia affirms its commitment to actively promoting national employment interests and strengthening efforts to realize a fair, inclusive, productive, and sustainable employment.
