Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia and Iran have discussed cooperation opportunities in strengthening vocational training, the employment social security system, and expanding job access for the disabled.

The discussion is an effort to create a more inclusive workplace while improving worker competency and welfare.

The meeting took place during a meeting between Indonesia’s Manpower Minister, Yassierli, and Iran's Minister of Cooperatives, Employment, and Social Welfare, Ahmad Meydari, on the sidelines of the BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers' Meeting (LEMM) in Hyderabad, India, on Wednesday (July 15).

Manpower Minister Yassierli stated that Indonesia welcomes the opportunity to expand collaboration in the employment sector through the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices expected to benefit both countries.

"We believe there is great potential for Indonesia and Iran to expand collaboration through the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices that can benefit both countries," he said.

The two countries specifically highlighted expanding employment access for the disabled.

Indonesia and Iran exchanged views on policies that support increased access to training, skills development, and the creation of equal employment opportunities.

Furthermore, this cooperation is directed at strengthening vocational training.

Through the agreed-upon agenda of comparative studies and knowledge exchange, both countries are committed to supporting each other in improving the quality of job training to produce a more skilled and work-ready workforce.

The meeting also discussed strengthening the employment social security system. Indonesia encouraged the sharing of experiences in developing policies and programs to expand the scope of social protection while improving workers' welfare.

Minister Yassierli also expressed Indonesia's readiness to share experiences in labor policy reform, workforce development, vocational training, and labor market governance.

"We hope that ministries in both countries can explore concrete follow-up measures through technical exchanges, expert dialogue, and capacity-building programs," he said.

The minister hoped that the bilateral meeting would be the first step in strengthening the partnership between Indonesia and Iran through concrete cooperation in strengthening vocational training, social security for workers, expanding job access for people with disabilities, and human resource development.
