Jakarta (Indonesia Window) — Indonesia’s Ministry of Manpower and Huawei Indonesia are strengthening their strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on human resource development and digital competency enhancement in Jakarta on Tuesday (May 26).
The Head of the Ministry of Manpower's Labor Market Center, R. Nurhidajat, and the Director of Human Resources at Huawei Indonesia, Andhi Mufti, signed the MoU, witnessed by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Manpower, Cris Kuntadi.
On the occasion, Cris Kuntadi said that the development of technological transformation requires the readiness of human resources who are able to adapt and possess skills according to industry needs.
Therefore, the involvement of the business sector is considered important in supporting the improvement of human resources’ competency.
"This collaboration is expected to create competent human resources who are ready to face the challenges of the world of work. The industrial world requires a workforce that is adaptable and possesses skills that are in line with technological developments," he said.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Manpower added that the government continues to promote vocational training and internship programs that are linked to job market needs.
The collaboration with Huawei Indonesia is believed to expand competency development opportunities for the younger generation, particularly in the fields of information and communication technology and industrial digitalization.
In addition to expanding collaboration with the industrial sector, the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower is also improving the governance of internship programs by strengthening digital-based regulations and oversight.
This step is being taken to ensure that internship programs are more focused and provide benefits to both participants and companies.
"Internship programs must be well-managed. Therefore, the government is present through regulations to ensure their implementation is more focused and provides tangible benefits to both participants and companies," Cris said.
The Ministry of Manpower will continue to collaborate with the business community, training institutions, and various stakeholders to expand the implementation of internship and vocational training programs in various regions.
“These efforts are being made to support the creation of competent human resources who are able to compete amidst the ever-changing industrial developments," he remarked.
