Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto handed over strategic main weapons systems (locally known as its abbreviation Alutsista) to the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to comprehensively strengthen the country's air defense posture.

The Alutsista handed over on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, included six Rafale MRCA aircraft, four Falcon 8X aircraft, one Airbus A400M MRTT aircraft, one Meteor missile, six Hammer smart weapons, and one GCI GM403 radar.

On that occasion, President Prabowo symbolically handed over the aircraft keys to Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto, before the latter gave the keys to the Air Force Chief of Staff, Air Marshal M. Tonny Harjono.

In his statement following the inspection, the President stated that this additional defense equipment represents a milestone in strengthening national defense.

"We have just officially received, in accordance with our custom, additional defense equipment for our air force. We received six Rafale fighter jets, Falcon transport aircraft, VIP transport aircraft, and A400s, as well as radars," the President said.

The presence of these various air defense platforms marks the Indonesian government's strategic move in building an integrated air force.

The Rafale MRCA aircraft will strengthen the Indonesian Air Force's air-to-air and air-to-ground combat capabilities through support for long-range Meteor and Hammer missiles.

Meanwhile, the Falcon 8X aircraft will support strategic mobility, command and surveillance missions, and the A400M MRTT aircraft will be a crucial element in strengthening strategic transport and aerial refueling capabilities.

The GCI GM403 radar will function as an early detection system for airborne threats. This radar will also help direct fighter jets toward targets violating Indonesian airspace sovereignty.

Previously, a strategic defense equipment system, an Airbus A400M aircraft, was handed over to the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in November 2025. This aircraft has enhanced the Indonesian Air Force's capabilities in various operations.
