President: Indonesian government committed to maintaining investment

The Indonesian government is open to accommodate all information regarding obstacles faced by investors.

 

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo has stressed that the Indonesian government is committed to keeping investment stable and running well.

President Widodo made the remarks at a meeting with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce in China (INACHAM) and a number of businesspeople from China at the Shangri-La Hotel, Chengdu, Friday.

On the occasion, President Widodo asked investors not to hesitate to inform obstacles they face when investing in Indonesia.

“If you face obstacles, be it about land acquisition or permit, please tell us,” he said, adding that the Indonesian government welcomes all information regarding the obstacles and will solve them.

The Indonesian government welcomes all information regarding problems faced by investors, the head of state said, adding that currently a number of investors from China have invested in Indonesia.

The president also pointed out that several Chinese investors have invested in Indonesia.

He further said that Indonesia prioritizes investment on electric vehicle (EV), renewable energy, and construction of Indonesia’s prospective national capital, locally known as Ibu Kota Nusantara (the Nusantara Capital/IKN).

“I have noticed that the trend here is EV ecosystem development that is also our country’s aim,” he noted.

In terms of new and renewable energy, the president said that Indonesia wants to encourage investors from China to participate in investing.

“I think this is such a great opportunity for our future green energy, green products,” he remarked.

Previously at a bilateral meeting (July 27), the Indonesian president met with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, emphasizing a number of cooperation between Indonesia and China.

On the occasion, the two heads of state discussed things about cooperation on trade, investment, health, development of the Nusantara Capital/IKN), as well as research and technology.
