Madinah Islamic University lecturers help improve Indonesian students’ knowledge

Dauroh Ilmiyyah Syar’iyyah (scientific seminar) held at Al Wafi Islamic Boarding School, in Indonesia’s Depok city, West Java province, on July 4-8, 2024, helps Indonesian students to pass the test for the Islamic University of Madinah.

 

Bogor, W Java (Indonesia Window) – Four lecturers from the Islamic University of Madinah (IUM) attended Dauroh Ilmiyyah Syar’iyyah (a scientific seminar) which was held at Al Wafi Islamic Boarding School, in Indonesia’s Depok city, West Java province, from July 4 to 8, 2024.

The lecturers will help the students to upgrade their knowledge and skills in Arabic, as well as other sciences, such as aqidah, mustalah al hadith (the classification of hadith), and usul fiqh (a methodology and rules and principles which guide the jurist to derive legal rules from the original sources), ” the founder of Al-Wafi Islamic Boarding School Foundation, Dr. Ali Saman Hasan, said in an exclusive interview with Indonesia Window after the opening of Dauroh Ilmiyyah Syar’iyyah at Al-Wafi campus, Depok, Wednesday.

The lecturers from the Islamic University of Madinah are Dr. Abdullah bin Mubarak an Nakhari, Dr. Fahd Isa, Dr. Wail bin Fawaz, and Dr. Adil bin Ali bin Ghanim.

Dr. Ali Saman explained that Dauroh Ilmiyyah Syar’iyyah also aimed to help Indonesian students to be accepted at universities in the Middle East.

“The opportunity to study in Saudi Arabia, for example, is very widely open to Indonesian students. For the admission test to Madinah University, they can register themselves via the university’s web application after graduating from high school, both from state and private schools, which are recognized by IUM. Then, they must get recommendations from their schools, and Islamic organizations, and must be healthy,” he pointed out.

“After all administrative requirements are met, an applicant will receive a number to take part in an interview with the university,” he added, emphasizing that upgrading Arabic is the key to passing IUM’s admission test.

According to him, Dauroh Ilmiyyah Syar’iyyah held at Al Wafi is one way that helps facilitate the process of enrolling students at the Islamic University of Madinah. These four lecturers who provide scientific seminar material are currently also active in application processes of new students.

“Dr. Abdullah an Nakhari takes care of new student admissions. Dr. Fahd Isa teaches the department of aqidah and ushuluddin, and serves as Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Programs. Dr. Wail bin Fawaz teaches hadith science and hadith mustalah. Dr. Adil teaches linguistics and determine the students’ level of mastery of Arabic,” Dr. Ali Saman explained.

Dauroh Ilmiyyah Syar’iyyah at Al Wafi Islamic Boarding School, which was held for the first tume, was participated in by 432 students from 150 institutions throughout Indonesia.

After attending seminars delivered by IUM lecturers, as well as receiving training from Indonesian lecturers regarding leadership, organization, public speaking, and other locally-focused materials, the participants had the opportunity to take IUM’s admission test which will be held on July 7.

According to Ust. Ali Saman, Dauroh Ilmiyyah Syar’iyyah will be an annual event, and will also be held in Sumatra and Sulawesi, namely among Indonesia’s islands with biggest number of Muslims, Islamic institutions and community organizations.”

In addition, the duration of the next event will be longer, up to two weeks, he added.
