
Supporting two-state solution, Indonesia calls for ending Gaza tragedy

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto made a call for ending tragedy in Gaza at at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York on Monday, September 22, 2025.The call was made during the president’s speech at the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Question and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.Beginning his speech, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation to the Government of France and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their leadership in organizing this important meeting.Implementing the two-state solution is the only way to peace, and Indonesia remains consistent in its commitment to its policy on the expected solution.On the occasion, the Head of State expressed deep concern over the ongoing humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat reported on its website on Tuesday.Thousands of innocent people, many of them women and children, have been lost. Famine threatens. A humanitarian disaster is unfolding. Therefore, all acts of violence against innocent civilians must strongly condemned, he noted.The president emphasized that the international community's historical responsibility concerns not only the future of Palestine, but also the future of Israel and the credibility of the UN.According to him, Indonesia remains consistent in implementing the two-state solution as the only way to peace.“Therefore, Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to the two-state solution to the Palestinian issue. Only this two-state solution will bring peace," he stressed."We must guarantee Palestinian statehood, but Indonesia also states that once Israel recognizes Palestinian independence and statehood, Indonesia will immediately recognize the State of Israel and we will support all Israeli security guarantees," he stated.In his speech, the head of state also emphasized the importance of the New York Declaration, which is considered to have provided a peaceful and just way to peace.He pointed out that statehood recognition must bring true peace to all parties.The president appreciated the steps taken by several major countries that have recognized Palestine, including France, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Portugal.Recognition of the State of Palestine is the right step on the right side of history. To those who have not yet acted, he emphasized that history does not stand still.Furthermore, the president stated that ending the war in Gaza must be a top international priority, and Indonesia is ready to actively contribute, including by sending peacekeeping troops under a UN mandate."We must overcome hatred, fear. We must overcome suspicion. We must achieve the peace that humanity needs. We are ready to take part in this journey toward peace.
