Ankara, Türkiye (Xinhua/Indonesia Window) — Türkiye, Qatar, Pakistan, and Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Doha on Wednesday (Oct. 21) to strengthen defense cooperation, enhance military capabilities, and expand collaboration in the defense industry, Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defense said.

The agreement, called the ‘Badr Memorandum of Understanding,’ aims to promote cooperation in military production, military technical training, and research and development, according to the ministry’s statement.

By combining the four countries’ respective military production capabilities, the initiative aims to expand defense industry capacity, facilitate integration, and help meet the needs of allied and fellow countries, the statement said.

The agreement is also expected to broaden military cooperation among the signatories and strengthen ties between their defense industries, contributing to regional security and shared goals.

Türkiye, a NATO member, has supported Gulf countries in strengthening their defense capabilities amid the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. The countries receiving such support include Qatar, where Ankara has a military base.
