
Sumatra flood victims increase to 961 deaths, 293 missing as of Dec. 9 morning

The number of flood victims in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra as of December 9, 2025, has risen to 961 deaths, 293 missing, and 5,000 injured.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The National Disaster Management Agency (locally known as BNPB) reported that the number of flood victims in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra as of December 9, 2025, has risen to 961 deaths, 293 missing, and 5,000 injured.In Aceh, the number of flood victims is 389 deaths, 62 missing, and 4,300 injured. In North Sumatra, 338 deaths, 136 missing, and 650 injured. In West Sumatra, 234 deaths, 95 missing, and 113 injured.BNPB also reported that 1,200 public facilities were damaged. The disaster likewise affected 199 health facilities, 534 educational facilities, 425 houses of worship, 234 buildings/offices, and 497 bridges.In addition, BNPB reported that 157,600 houses were damaged.
