Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Noble Quran and the hadith (sayings and traditions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) mention a number of plants and trees that show the magnificence of Allah ﷻ as well as the meaning of each of these creations, including their benefits for humans.

The Quranic Botanical Garden under the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development collects all kinds of plants mentioned in the Quran and the hadith, and becomes the first and only one in the world.

The botanical garden which is located in Qatar’s capital city of Doha was inaugurated on September 17, 2008 by Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation.

The inauguration of the botanical garden was marked by the planting of the sidra tree (Ziziphus spina-christi Willd, Sidr), which is also the symbol of the Qatar Foundation.

The Quranic Botanical Garden showcases about 60 species of plants originating from three types of habitats, namely, desert, Mediterranean and tropical.

Dates, olives, figs, citrus, senna, ginger, aloe vera and camphor are among the collections of the botanical garden.

In addition, the Quranic Botanical Garden also explains botanical terms mentioned by the Quran both from religious and scientific perspectives.

Some plant names and botanical terms mentioned by the Quran and hadith are unknown to modern scientists and modern Arabic. The Quranic Botanical Garden bridges this gap to make people understand that the Noble Quran and hadith are in line with their life.

Carrying out educational, scientific, environmental and conservation, cultural and recreational roles, the Quranic Botanical Garden in Doha also shows non-Muslims about the scientific aspects of Islam and how the religion teaches us about the benefits of natural resources and their preservation.
