The media play an integral role in providing information about the Indonesian chairmanship in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) this year.

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Gandi Sulistiyanto, has said the media play an integral role in providing information about the partnership between the governments and the private sectors of the two countries, as well as friendship among all components of society.

Gandi Sulistiyanto made the remarks at the first annual media briefing on Feb. 17, 2023 at Indonesia’s guest house in Seoul, Republic of Korea, according to the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a written statement quoted by Indonesia Window on Sunday.

The event is in line with the big theme of commemorating the 50th anniversary of Indonesia-Korea diplomatic relations, namely 'Closer Friendship, Stronger Partnership', the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The briefing on the integral role of the media aims to disseminate the two main priorities of the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul in 2023, namely the Commemoration of the 50 Years of Indonesia-South Korea Diplomatic Relations and Indonesia's Leadership in ASEAN.

The activity was attended by ambassadors and representatives of ASEAN member countries in Seoul, as well as leaders and journalists from credible local and foreign media in the Republic of Korea (South Korea).

Ambassador Gandi Sulistiyanto has begun serving as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Seoul since January 2023.

The central theme carried by the Indonesian presidency is 'ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth' which includes three main pillars namely ASEAN Matters, ASEAN as the epicenter of growth, and the implementation of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific.

In order to celebrate the commemoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul has planned a series of interesting activities this year.

The activities are to include panel discussions and dialogues involving various stakeholders, bilateral forums on economy, trade, and investment as well as events in the creative and digital economy and culture.

“The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IK CEPA) officially takes effect from January 1, 2023. We hope that this agreement will further pave the way for closer permanent economic cooperation between the two countries," the Indonesian ambassador in Seoul said.

The IK CEPA is aimed at increasing trade volume and developing investment flows and Korean industry in cooperation through a win-win collaboration scheme.

Considering the important role of the younger generation as future leaders of the nation, the Indonesian ambassador invited young peoples of the two countries to strengthen collaboration in various sectors, especially in the creative and digital industries by becoming creativepreneurs and digitpreneurs.
