Bogor, W Java (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia’s floating solar power plant construction project in Cirata Reservoir in West Java province’s district of Purwakarta, worth 129 million U.S. dollars is expected to produce 250 gigawatts (GW) per hour/year.

The floating solar power plant development is an Independent Power Producer (IPP) project undertaken by Indonesia’s power generation investment company (PJBI) and MASDAR, a subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company owned by the United Arab Emirates government.

The first floating solar power plant development project in Indonesia and the largest in Southeast Asia was officially started on Thursday (Dec 17).

Cirata’s floating solar power plant is part of Indonesia’s Electricity Infrastructure Acceleration Project to increase the mix of renewable energy to reach 23 percent by 2025.

The shares of the project consist of 51 percent by Indonesia’s PJBI and 49 percent by the UAE’s Masdar.

The Cirata floating solar power plant is developed, and will be operated by a joint venture, Pembangkitan Jawa Bali Masdar Solar Energy (PMSE).
