Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Indonesia president, Prabowo Subianto, and his counterpart of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ), have agreed to strengthen bilateral relations and increase investment cooperation between the two countries.

The agreement made during a bilateral meeting at the Qasr Al Bahr Palace, Abu Dhabi, on Thursday, February 26, 2026, the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat reported on its website on Friday.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, the two heads of state discussed concrete steps to deepen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and the UAE, particularly in the investment and economic sectors.

President MBZ directly conveyed the United Arab Emirates' commitment to increasing its investment in Indonesia.

"The meeting discussed cooperation to increase investment. Bilateral cooperation is being strengthened. The UAE wants to increase its investment in Indonesia," according to the Indonesian Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya, who accompanied President Prabowo at the meeting.

The effort to increase cooperation marks the close and mutually beneficial bilateral relationship between the two countries.

Indonesia is seen as a key strategic partner in Southeast Asia, particularly in the fields of energy, infrastructure, and future economic development.

President Prabowo welcomed this commitment and emphasized Indonesia's readiness to continue strengthening a conducive and sustainable investment climate.

The Indonesian government also opened wider collaboration opportunities for UAE investors in various national priority sectors.

The meeting also affirmed the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and the UAE, towards a more comprehensive and long-term strategic partnership.

The meeting's momentum was even more significant as it coincided with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the UAE in 2026.

After half a century, relations between the two countries are now entering a new phase with a focus on investment, economic growth, and future partnerships.
