Indonesian president receives UAE ambassador

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador and President Jokowi talked about several investment projects, including that in the field of port construction which is expected to be completed soon.

 

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo received the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador, Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday.

At the meeting, President Widodo officially congratulated Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan who has been appointed as Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed as Vice President of the United Arab Emirates.

“Mr. President asked to convey these congratulations to both of them,” Indonesia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi said in a statement after accompanying the president.

In addition, during the meeting with the UAE ambassador, President Widodo also spoke about efforts to strengthen economic relations between the two countries.

The head of state hopes that the finalization of the ratification of the Indonesia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership can be completed soon.

“Mr. President expressed his hope that all processes can be completed maximally by the end of this year,” she continued.

Retno added that other efforts to strengthen economic relations discussed were related to UAE investment projects in a number of infrastructure developments in Indonesia.

“He also spoke with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates regarding several investment projects, including that in the field of port development which is also expected to be completed soon,” Retno noted.

Retno explained that on this occasion, the president also expressed his willingness to attend the World Climate Action Summit which will be held in December 2023.

“The president also said that he would attend the World Climate Action Summit which would be held in early December, to coincide with the celebration of the 52nd UAE National Day,” she added.

The World Climate Summit will share best practices and cross-sectoral innovations that are important for decarbonization efforts in the focus areas of energy, transportation, buildings, industry, finance, and nature.
