Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – In order to expand and deepen Indonesia’s cooperation with the Central European region, the country has initiated the establishment of the Indonesia-Visegrád cooperation forum, the Government News Network (JPP) reported as quoted by Indonesia Window here, Thursday.
Visegrád countries consist of Czech, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, which have more than 64 million people and a total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of more than US$2.2 trillion, making this group a potential non-traditional market for Indonesia.
The idea of forming the forum was conveyed when Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi held a bilateral meeting with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó during her working visit to Hungary’s capital city of Budapest on Tuesday (Sep 17, 2019).
The two ministers have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on vocational education and training which is expected to support the application of the Information and Communication Technology and artificial intelligence curriculum in vocational high schools.
Meanwhile, Hungary will also increase the number of scholarship recipients for Indonesia from 50 to 100 students.
There are now 127 Indonesian students receiving Hungarian scholarships in postgraduate and doctoral programs on science, social, economics, and other study programs.
