Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Indonesian Ministry of Religion Affairs has determined that 1 Ramadan 1442 Hijri falls on Tuesday (April 13).
The decision was taken based on an isbat meeting to determine the start of Ramadan, which was directly chaired by Minister of Religion Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas here on Monday.
This year’s isbat meeting was held in two different formats, namely offline and online, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The isbat meeting consisted of three sessions. The first session was begun by exposing the position of the new moon by members of the Falakiyah Team of the ministry. At this session, the monitoring team confirmed that they had seen the Ramadan moonlight in a number of areas in the archipelagic country.
In the second session, the meeting was held behind closed doors, and was only participated by representatives of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), the House of Representatives, as well as minister and deputy ministers of religion affairs.
The Ministry of Religion Affairs established 88 posts across the provinces in Indonesia to monitor the new moon.
