
Bank Indonesia governor resigns, leadership transition to follow regulations

Regarding the transition policy, Bank Indonesia (BI) continues to maintain monetary stability, while the Ministry of Finance maintains the fiscal system, with close coordination between the two.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto officially accepted Perry Warjiyo's resignation letter as Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi announced the matter in a press statement at Bank Indonesia on Monday, July 27, 2026.
The president expressed his highest appreciation and respect for Perry Warjiyo's dedication to leading Bank Indonesia for approximately seven years in maintaining monetary stability and the national financial system.
As a follow-up, the government will process the issuance of a Presidential Decree regarding Perry Warjiyo's resignation in accordance with the mechanisms stipulated in the Bank Indonesia Law.
In accordance with the Bank Indonesia Law, the position of Governor of Bank Indonesia will be automatically filled by the Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Destry Damayanti, temporarily until the appointment of a definitive Governor of Bank Indonesia through the applicable mechanisms.
The public and market players are expected to remain calm during this transition process, as all stages are being implemented transparently, accountably, and in accordance with applicable laws.
Bank Indonesia will remain functioning well and continue to operate effectively, ensuring that the leadership transition process does not disrupt the continuity of monetary policy or the overall stability of the national economy.
In this regard, Bank Indonesia will continue to maintain its role in maintaining monetary stability, while the Ministry of Finance maintains the fiscal system, with close coordination between the two.
