Iranian Embassy says its military attack on Israel reasonable, defensive

The Iranian armed forces have launched a number of attacks on the Israeli-occupied territory, asserting that these actions are defensive in self-defense to maintain regional and international peace and security at a time when the Zionist apartheid regime is carrying out genocide against the Palestinian people.

 

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Jakarta has issued a written press statement regarding their military attacks on a number of targets in the Israeli-occupied territory on Sunday.

“On this day (14 April 2024) the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in exercising their natural right to self-defense as provided for in article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations and in retaliatory response to the repeated military aggression of the Zionist regime which led to the martyrdom of its advisors Iran’s official military that is officially present in Syria at the invitation of the Syrian government and is active there, a series of military attacks were carried out by the Iranian Armed Forces against military bases of the Zionist regime,” the statement said.

The Iranian Embassy continued that today’s steps are also specific retaliation for the Zionist regime’s military attack on April 1, 2024 against Iranian diplomatic facilities in Damascus, the capital of Syria.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran takes this opportunity to re-emphasize its adherence to the principles and objectives of the UN Charter and international law.”

The statement emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s defensive actions in exercising its right to self-defense demonstrate Iran’s responsible approach to regional and international peace and security at a time of illegal and genocidal acts committed by the Zionist apartheid regime against the Palestinian people and military aggression against the governments of those countries in the region with the aim of spreading the fire of war continues to be carried out by the Zionist regime.
