Indonesian Corner at Sousse University brings Indonesia-Tunisia closer

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The relationship between the peoples of Indonesia and Tunisia is expected to be even tighter with the inauguration of the Indonesian Corner at the Faculty of Literature and Humanities, Sousse University, by the Indonesian Ambassador to Tunisia, Prof. Dr. Ikrar Nusa Bhakti on Thursday (Nov 21).

The inauguration was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Literature and Humanities, Sousse University, Prof. Kamel Jerfel and a number of academics, lecturers, staff members of the Indonesian Embassy in Tunis and students of the Indonesian Language Program for Foreign Speakers (BIPA).

The Indonesian Corner which has been planned since 2016 as the Center for Indonesian Culture in Tunisia is expected to become a center for cultural activities, academic activities, studies and research on Indonesian culture, including the Indonesian national language, known as Bahasa Indonesia.

Ambassador Ikrar Nusa Bhakti expressed his appreciation to the Sousse University academic community who had cooperated well in establishing the Indonesian Corner on the campus.

The Indonesian Corner will be managed by BIPA teachers from the Indonesian Ministry of Education’s Center for Development of Strategy and Language Diplomacy.

Various activities such as teaching Indonesian and introducing culture through dance, film and other media will be included in the Indonesian Corner’s activities, in addition to writing papers in Indonesian and English.
