
Indonesia, WWC, UNESCO sign LoI about cooperation on World Water Forum

The Letter of Intent is intended to support the holding of the World Water Forum which regulates that all organizers can act and be actively involved in the event scheduled to take place in Indonesia’s resort island of Bali in May 2024.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Indonesian government, the World Water Council (WWC) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) signed the Letter of Intent (LoI) on cooperation in organizing the 10th World Water Forum at the kick-off meeting of the forum in Jakarta on Wednesday (Feb. 15).The Letter of Intent is intended to support the holding of the forum which regulates that all organizers can act and be actively involved in the event to be held in Bali in May 2024.The signing of LoI was carried out by the Secretary General of the Indonesian Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Mohammad Zainal Fatah as Head of the Secretariat of the National Committee for Organizing the 10th World Water Forum, the World Water Council's President Loic Fauchon, and Director of the Division of Water Sciences and Secretary of the Intergovernmental UNESCO Hydrological Program Abou Amani.The signing was witnessed by the Minister of the Public Works and Public Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono as Deputy Chair of the National Committee for Organizing the 10th World Water Forum under the theme "Water of Shared Prosperity".Around 17,000 participants and 30,000 visitors from 172 countries are expected to attend the World Water Forum in Bali.Minister Basuki said the World Water Forum is the largest water sector forum attended by all layers of stakeholders in the water sector to share experiences and innovations to answer various challenges in global water management.At the 10th World Water Forum, stakeholders at all levels should have initiatives and responsibilities to immediately take courageous and concrete actions, Basuki said."We need a change in attitude, awareness at all levels, initiatives, responsibilities, collaboration, solidarity and financing, all of which lead to concrete actions," he said.Reporting by Indonesia WindowBagikan
