Indonesia supports Qatar following Israeli strike on Doha

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, received a telephone call from Indonesia’s President Prabowo on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, following the Israeli attack on Doha.

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto, Wednesday (Sept. 9) held a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

According to Indonesian Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, the Head of State inquired about Qatar’s condition following Israel’s attack on Doha the day before.

“During the conversation, the president asked about Qatar’s condition following Israel’s attack on Doha, Qatar, on September 9, 2025,” the cabinet secretary said in his written statement.

Teddy also stated that Israel’s attack on Doha constituted a grave violation of the principles of international law, including the United Nations Charter, a breach of Qatar’s sovereignty, and a major threat to the region’s (Middle East) peace and security.

“This attack also carries the risk of escalating and expanding the conflict in the region,” he said.

The cabinet secretary also emphasized that Indonesia’s stance remains consistent in supporting Qatar’s sovereignty and peace in the Middle East region.

“Indonesia reaffirms its solidarity with the Government and the people of Qatar and underscores our commitment to supporting all diplomatic efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive solution and sustainable peace in the Middle East under the Two-State Solution.

The conversation between President Prabowo Subianto and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim, highlighted the close ties of friendship between Indonesia and Qatar.

It also underscored Indonesia’s commitment to playing an active role in safeguarding regional stability, while advocating justice for the Palestinian people through a peaceful and sustainable solution.

The Union of OIC news Agencies reported that Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, participated in an emergency session of the Security Council on Friday, September 12 (local time), entitled ‘The Situation in the Middle East,’ in light of Israel's treacherous attacks on Qatar.

According to the organization of the news agencies, the session was held at the request of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the French Republic, and the United Kingdom.
