The 2023 Halal Fair, which is being held together with the Halal Indonesia International Trade Show (HIITS), has become a creative and inspiring MICE (meeting, incentive, conference and exhibition) event, as well as building a strong foundation for national economic growth.

Tangerang, Banten (Indonesia Window) – The Halal Fair which is being held together with the Halal Indonesia International Trade Show (HIITS) has become a MICE (meeting, incentive, conference and exhibition) event that is creative and inspiring, while bringing benefits to the wider community.

The Director of PT Wahyu Promo Citra as the event’s organizier, Kiki Satrio, made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the 2023 Halal Fair which was held along with the Halal Indonesia International Trade Show (HIITS) at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in Tangerang city, Banten province, on Friday (Dec. 8).

"Halal Fair builds collaboration with fellow countries to introduce domestic halal products, including fashion, food and drinks, and others," he said.

Halal Fair in conjunction with the Halal Indonesia International Trade Show, according to him, not only holds exhibitions, but also presents a number of other events such as sharing sessions, talk shows, as well as the launch of a number of halal products.

"People can visit the Halal Fair and get to know brands of local products, which include fashion products, beauty and cosmetic products, travel, and others," said Kiki, adding that the organizing committee features at least 20 speakers and resource persons during the Halal Fair and HIITS, from 8 to 10 December.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Jakarta’s Sharia Economic Community (locally known as MES) Tito Maulana in his speech stated that the Halal Fair was a form of MES' commitment to collaborating with Wahyu Citra Promo as the organizer of the event, to develop the halal industry in Indonesia.

“The halal industry in Indonesia has built a strong foundation for national economic growth. The potential and opportunities for the halal industry are very large, but it also faces many challenges," he said.

Tito further said, in the field of the halal tourism industry, Indonesia was ranked first as the best halal tourist destination in the world by the Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) together with Malaysia.

The halal industry is expected to be  the most important part of the national strategy in the future, said Tito, while hoping that all presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 elections would support sharia economic programs.

The opening ceremony of the 2023 Halal Fair and the Halal Indonesia International Trade Show was attended by a number of representatives and invited guests from friendly countries, including Sudanese Ambassador to Indonesia Yassir Mohamed Ali; Charge d’Affairs of the Tunisian Embassy, Wissem Moatemry; representatives from the Embassies of Saudi Arabia, Japan, Mali and Palestine.

Last August, the Halal Fair was participated in by 90 national brands with 250 booths, and was visited by more than 30,000 people.
