Jakarta (Indonesia Window) - Head of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) in Indonesia John Chen on Thursday (May 14) handed over 300,000 medical masks, which arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) officials.

A statement from TETO received by Indonesia Window here on Friday mentioned that the donation was a concrete action showing the determination "Taiwan can help" and “Taiwan is helping” for the international community.

Taiwan's masks donation for Indonesia will strengthen friendship between the two countries and prove the humanitarian spirit of "preventing pandemics without border".

John Chen said the achievement of pandemic prevention by Taiwan has been internationally recognized.

Taiwan hoped to share its experiences in pandemic prevention and medical development with other countries, so that the Formosa Island can be invited to the World Health Assembly (WHA) this month and related World Health Organization (WHO) mechanisms.

The TETO head also expected that Taiwan and Indonesia could work together in overcoming the pandemic early, so that people could return to normal life as soon as possible and revitalize economic development.

Earlier, the donation of medical mask from Taiwan to Indonesia was handed over at the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday (May 12).

Taiwan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Hsu Szu-chien handed over the aid to the Indonesian government represented by the Deputy Head of the Indonesian Economic and Trade Office in Taipei (KDEI) Teddy Surachmat.
