Bogor, W Java (Indonesia Window) – Rescue team found eight more bodies of the Cianjur earthquake, bringing the total number of fatalities to 318, as of Saturday at 5 p.m. local time, an official has said."Meanwhile, 14 missing people are still being searched for," Deputy for Emergency Management of Indonesia’s National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), Fajar Setyawan, told a press conference in Cianjur district, West Java province, Saturday.Fajar further said that the number of injured victims recorded since the 5.6 magnitude earthquake rocked Cianjur on November 21, 2022, totaled 7,729 people.Of the figure, "as many as 595 people were seriously injured and 7,134 people slightly injured," he noted."There are 108 people with serious injuries who are still being treated at the hospital," Fajar said, adding that the victims with minor injuries have been treated properly and returned to their homes.Meanwhile, he added, the number of evacuees recorded since the first day of the earthquake that hit the district was 73,693 people."Material losses include 58,049 damaged houses, consisting of 25,186 declared severely damaged, 12,496 houses moderately damaged, and 20,367 houses slightly damaged," he explained.The earthquake also damaged a number of infrastructure. "With details, there are 368 schools, 144 places of worship, 14 health facilities, and 16 units of office buildings," Fajar said.The Cianjur earthquake also affected 146 villages in 16 sub districts.On Saturday, BNPB also dispatched a unit of helicopter for mapping remote areas that are not accessible by four-wheeled vehicles, the Deputy for Emergency Management of BNPB said.The agency also uses motorbikes to distribute logistics to areas that cannot be reached by four-wheeled vehicles.Reporting by Indonesia WindowBagikan
