
Indonesia has two new dams to deal with floods in capital Jakarta

Two new dams in Indonesia, located in Ciawi and Sukamahi villages, Bogor district, West Java province, were built in support of efforts to deal with floods in the country's capital Jakarta.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (popularly known as Jokowi) inaugurated two new dams in Ciawi and Sukamahi villages, Bogor district, West Java province, on Friday (Dec. 23)."By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim (In the name of Allah, the most beneficent, the most Merciful), I declare that the Ciawi dam in Bogor district, West Java province, this morning be inaugurated," President Widodo said followed by turning the dam's sluice wheel.Two new dams in Indonesia which are located Ciawi and Sukamahi villages, Bogor district, West Java province, were built in support of efforts to deal with floods in Indonesia’s capital Jakarta, the head of state said."Jakarta has always had three big problems; floods, traffic jams, and spatial planning. Now we are here to talk about flood issues," he said.In efforts to control floods in Jakarta, the president stressed the importance of consistency in completing three things. The first is the normalization of 13 rivers in the capital, and the second is pumping management in reservoirs in the city.The third is completing the construction of the sea wall as well as the giant sea wall, the president said while reminding that the Ciliwung water channel leading to the East Flood Canal be completed soon.The president is optimistic that with consistency in completing these three things, flooding in Jakarta would be resolved."If these three things are not completed, Jakarta would always be flooded. Whoever the governor is, must be consistent in completing what I said earlier. Because in fact the master plan is already clear," he noted.The constructions of the Ciawi and Sukamahi dams which are dry dams began in 2016 and in 2017 respectively.Reporting by Indonesia WindowBagikan
