The attacks on an elementary school and the killing of 175 schoolgirls violate the principle of distinguishing between military and non-military targets and constitutes a clear example of a war crime.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Iranian Embassy in Jakarta has condemned with deep sorrow the United States and the zionist regime for attacking the country of mullahs, resulting in the martyrdom of 175 innocent schoolgirls and the injury of more than 95 children at the Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School in Minab City, Hormozgan Province.
These defenseless children, who were simply attending class to learn and build a bright future, became victims of violence as a result of missile attacks that violate neither the conscience of humanity nor the principles recognized in international law, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran stated in a press release on Saturday (March 14).
The attack on an elementary school and the killing of 175 schoolgirls violates the principle of distinguishing between military and non-military targets and constitutes a clear example of a war crime.
"What further adds to the bitterness of this tragedy is that this aggressive attack occurred at a time when this Middle Eastern country was pursuing the diplomatic mision, dialogue, and negotiations, and our country's representatives were at the negotiating table to reach a peaceful solution and strengthen regional peace and stability," the embassy stated.
Based on these principles, civilians, especially children, and educational institutions must be fully protected from military attacks.
The attacks on an elementary school and the killing of 175 schoolgirls violate the principle of distinguishing between military and non-military targets and constitutes a clear example of a war crime.
Further highlighting this bitter reality is that American officials themselves have admitted to carrying out the attacks.
This admission demonstrates the direct responsibility of the perpetrators of these acts and further emphasizes the importance of accountability and legal action for these crimes within the framework of international mechanisms.
Contemporary history also records numerous tragic examples of innocent civilian casualties resulting from military actions, including the 1988 shooting down of an Iranian passenger plane by a United States warship, causing the deaths of 290 innocent people, including dozens of children, and the zionist regime's repeated attacks on residential areas in Gaza, which have frequently claimed the lives of many civilians and children.
These examples serve as a reminder that the disregard for the principles of international law consistently makes ordinary people and children the first victims.
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran calls on active Islamic organizations, international human rights institutions, and children's rights organizations not to remain silent in the face of such crimes.
By firmly condemning these acts, they are expected to take steps to uncover the truth, hold the perpetrators accountable, and prevent the recurrence of similar tragedies.
Protecting the lives of children and civilians is a shared responsibility of all nations and countries.
On Saturday, March 14, 2026, a joint prayer and commemoration event to commemorate the 175 children martyred in the US and Israeli zionist attack on elementary school students in Minab was held at the residence of the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, attended by Indonesian children.
The presence of Indonesian children at this event was a symbol of humanitarian solidarity and a clear message of empathy among nations for the innocent victims.
When children from various nations stand together in remembrance of these victims, they are essentially the voice of the world's conscience, declaring that the suffering of children anywhere in the world is the suffering of all humanity.
It is hoped that the memories and names of these innocent children would further awaken the world's conscience and inspire joint efforts for peace, justice, and the protection of children's lives worldwide, until the day comes when no school is ever targeted by war and no child is ever a victim of violence and aggression.
The Iranian embassy hopes that peace, justice, and security would be achieved for all children worldwide.
