Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation is expecting to hire at least 39,000 workers through a labor-intensive program in the railway sector in 2021 in Central Java with a budget allocation of 3.2 billion rupiahs (some 230,206 U.S. dollars).

The labor-intensive program in the transportation sector is the government’s commitment to helping people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and accelerating the national economic recovery, said Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi when observing labor-intensive projects in the construction of the electrification on the railway line of Yogyakarta-Solo route at Lempuyangan Station, Yogyakarta, on Sunday (Feb. 14).

The minister said that in 2021 the labor-intensive program is one of the national priorities as it benefits people.

The labor-intensive program in the transportation sector covers maintenance and construction of terminals, airports, seaports, railways, and transportation safety facilities.
