The maiden export of electric vehicle batteries is a significant step. It is concrete proof Indonesia's downstreaming strategy is sound, and the country will continue to pursue it to the best of its ability.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) - Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed his government's commitment to continuing the national industrial downstreaming strategy as part of efforts to strengthen the country's economic development.
The maiden export of electric vehicle batteries serves as concrete evidence of the continuity of the downstreaming policy, the Head of State said in his remarks at the Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) in Central Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province, on Thursday (Oct. 8).
"Today (Thursday), the maiden export of electric vehicle batteries marks a significant step. It is concrete proof that our downstreaming strategy is sound, and we will continue to pursue it to the best of our ability," the President stated.
On the occasion, he also expressed his appreciation to the companies for demonstrating leadership, good governance, and a sense of responsibility in conducting their industrial operations.
Furthermore, the Head of State highlighted the companies' efforts to foster and empower the communities surrounding the industrial park.
"I also welcome the leadership, management, and sense of responsibility shown by the companies in this area. I observe that the support you provide to the local people here is excellent. This is something we should support and continue," he said.
In line with the industrial development, President Prabowo reminded everyone of the importance of maintaining environmental sustainability and safety in all operational activities, emphasizing that industrial progress must go hand-in-hand with responsible waste management.
"We will preserve the quality of our water and air. Pay close attention to proper waste management. Let us face our future well, with a deep sense of responsibility for our children and grandchildren," he said.
The President further emphasized that the current achievements in national industrial development are the result of a long process involving contributions from various past administrations.
He expressed his appreciation to all parties who have worked hard to realize the nation's development goals.
“Thank you to everyone who has worked hard, bringing us closer to our aspirations. However, I would remind you of the saying of our predecessors: the closer we get to our goals, the greater the challenges become. Yet, we are accustomed to facing challenges; we have the courage to confront them,” he concluded.
