Jakarta (Indonesia Window) - Indonesian fertilizer with a trademark Glogens Organic Micro-Carbon Fertilizer has obtained the only patent for coal-based fertilizer production technology from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in June 16, 2020.

A statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentioned that with the patent, the artificial fertilizer by R. Umar Hasan Saputra could enter the agricultural industry in the US which is currently the largest market in the world.

The coal-based fertilizer company can also open investment opportunities to build factories and market the product at the global level.

According to Umar, the fertilizer which in Indonesia is known by the trade name Futura has several advantages as it is made from low-calorie coal that are widely available in various countries.

The fertilizer is organic and also environmentally friendly as it can improve soil conditions.

Futura can be produced more quickly and massively compared to chemical fertilizers so it is more economical.

Umar explained that his artificial fertilizer was the result of 11 years development after going through a series of tests and had been used by various groups of farmers in Indonesia.

The fertilizer can significantly increase productivity of various agricultural crops.

Futura can also reduce the use of pesticides thereby minimizing negative impacts on plants, soil and the environment.

After obtaining the patent, Umar will submit a permit to the relevant authorities in the U.S. before entering into the broader marketing stage.

To support that plan, his company has set up a land in California for a test on paddy, and is preparing another land in Indiana for corn crops.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Consul General in Chicago Meri Binsar Simorangkir stated that the Indonesian Consulate and the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) would assist Umar to process the submission for standardization certification.

Promotion and marketing plans in collaboration with related parties in the Midwest will also be carried out.

The region is known as one of the major agricultural and plantation production centers in the U.S. such as soybeans, corn and wheat.
