Indonesia’s economic growth in 2026 is targeted to reach 5.4 percent, with the potential to reach up to 5.6 percent, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has said.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has stated that the government is targeting Indonesia's economic growth of 5.4 percent in 2026, with the potential to reach up to 5.6 percent.
Coordinating Minister Airlangga made the remarks at the Indonesia Economic Outlook 2026 event held here on Friday (Feb. 13).
The event, attended by President Prabowo Subianto, served as a strategic forum to align the vision and steps for national economic policy direction for 2026, according to the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat in its website as quoted by Indonesia Window on Sunday.
Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto said in his report on the occasion that Indonesia’s economic growth in 2026 is projected to reach 5.11 percent year-on-year, supported by strong household consumption growth of 4.98 percent.
"This reflects well-targeted economic stimulus, price stability, and increased mobility due to the Christmas and New Year holidays and public economic activity," Airlangga explained.
“Like an airplane, we were about to take off in 1998 but there were international disruptions. Now we will take off in the next two years. Of course, the production engine, both government spending and business investment, and Danantara, must operate in harmony," he said.
Danantara is the state strategic investment management agency established by Indonesian President Prabowo in October 2024.
In his introductory speech, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation for the hard work of his entire staff during the first year of his administration.
According to the president, this year has seen many achievements worthy of pride.
"All of our achievements, which we should be proud of, are the result of the hard work of the entire team I lead. So, ladies and gentlemen, in front of all of Indonesia, I say that my team, in my opinion, and in my belief, because I have been a user and have seen them up close, are truly the best sons and daughters of the Indonesian nation," the head of state said.
President Prabowo's presence at the forum also emphasized the government's commitment to maintaining national economic optimism through adaptive, collaborative, and long-term policies.
The government views the current momentum as a crucial point for strengthening national competitiveness, increasing investment, and creating quality jobs for the people.
The Indonesia Economic Outlook 2026 event was also attended by ambassadors from friendly countries, ministers of the cabinet which they call the Red and White Cabinet, economists, and academics.
