
Indonesia hands over G20 presidency to India

G20 presidency was officially handed over by Indonesia to India, in the hope that the group would continue to move forward to realize a global recovery as well as strong and inclusive growth.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia has handed over G20 presidency to India after the G20 Summit ended in Bali, where a series of events at the summit were held under the Indonesian presidency."I hereby declare that the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia is closed," Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo said, closing the summit that took place at The Apurva Kempinski Hotel, Bali, on Wednesday.The president officially handed over the G20 presidency to India as the next holder of the G20 presidency, according to the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat in a written statement on Wednesday.He believes that under the leadership of India, the G20 would continue to move forward to realize a global recovery as well as strong and inclusive growth."As a friend of India and as part of the troika next year, Indonesia is ready to support the success of India's G20 presidency, and I also ask all the leaders to support India next year," he said.Summary of the summitDuring the two days of the summit in Bali, President Widodo together with the G20 leaders, international organizations and other invited guests carried out a series of activities.On the first day, the head of state started the activity by welcoming the participants of the G20 Summit at The Apurva Kempinski Hotel. He officially opened the G20 Summit followed by Session I which discussed global economic conditions, food security and energy.The leaders were then invited by the president to have a luncheon. At the banquet, he also invited International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach and International Football Federation (FIFA) President Gianni Infantino to deliver remarks.After lunch, the delegates continued summit activities or the session II that discussed global health issues, followed by a side event of the G20 Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII).The first day's program was closed with a dinner party at Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park.The second day of the summit began with a visit to the Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park, followed by the session III which discussed digital transformation before the closing ceremony and handover of the presidency to India.The president was also scheduled to give a press statement at the Bali G20 Summit Media Center of the Bali International Convention Center (BICC) in Badung district, Bali.On the sidelines of the summit, President Widodo also held a number of bilateral meetings.Reporting by Indonesia WindowBagikan
