Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia’s a state owned rolling stock manufacturer PT INKA exported 262 flat top wagons to New Zealand, which was released by Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi in Madiun district, East Java province on Friday (Dec. 31).

Not only does the first integrated railway manufacturer in Southeast Asia manufactures train carriages, but also produces electric buses that will be used at the G20 Summit in Bali, as well as marine toll ship containers.

"All of these are productive goods that support investment, in order to increase the economic growth," the minister said.

PT INKA is expected to maintain its products’ quality and price to compete in the international market.

On the same occasion, PT INKA’s President Director Budi Noviantoro said that the freight cars were ordered by New Zealand’s state-owned company Kiwi Rail.

Kiwi Rail is a rail transport and the largest inter-island ferry operator in New Zealand.

"There are still several cooperation that we will strive for. Hopefully PT INKA will get the next projects," he said.

The export of freight cars to New Zealand is expected to be a big step for Indonesia to retake up a role in the railway market in the Oceania region.

Earlier, PT INKA also exported 224 blizzard center sills to Australia’s Bradken Rail.
