The general election will run according to the agenda and this is a series of general election activities including updating voter data.

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (popularly known as Jokowi) and First Lady Iriana Jokowi have officially registered as voters in the 2024 general election.

The process was carried out by the president and the first lady after attending the election voter data matching and research at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, Tuesday (March 14).

Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU), Hasyim Asy'ari, said this is a sign that the 2024 election would go on.

"This is a sign that the 2024 election will continue according to the agenda and this is a series of election activities including updating voter data," Hasyim Asy'ari said in his statement as quoted by Indonesia Window on Wednesday.

Hasyim said that the matching and research activities which were attended by President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana also showed the head of state's active participation in the 2024 election activities.

"Yes, I think this is symbolic that Mr. Joko Widodo as an Indonesian citizen who also happens to be the president actively participates in election activities, especially in the form of participating in matching research on voter data for the 2024 election," he said.

Hasyim said that the number of voters used as the basis for updating the data amounts to around 204 million voters.

This amount was obtained from the synchronization between the potential voter population data and the fixed voter list owned by the KPU.

"Based on these two data, it is synchronized and that becomes voter data used as a tool or instrument or work tool for voter data updating personnel when updating voter data," Hasyim explained, adding that the data used as the basis for updating voter data is currently recorded at 204,559,713 voters.

Meanwhile, Feby Azza Nurhakim who is among personnel updating the voter data has conducted matching and research on Joko Widodo who is registered at the polling booth number 10 in Gambir sub-district, Central Jakarta.
