Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Abdallah Al-Mouallimi, has participated in a high-level meeting for the International Solidarity Day with the Palestinian People in New York, the United States.
Saudi Arabia’s participation underlines the country’s confidence in the legitimate and irrevocable rights of the Palestinian people, the Saudi Press Agency’s News Agency reported on Thursday (Nov 28).
In a letter to the chairperson of the Committee for the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, Saudi Arabia stressed that the Kingdom Government was very concerned about the Palestinian cause.
Saudi Arabia stated that it did not see any justification for the continuing conflict in the Middle East Region, especially with the existence of an international consensus based on the Arab Peace Initiative and UN resolutions.
The consensus mentioned the necessity of fulfilling the rights of the Palestinian people in self-determination and the formation of an independent state with Jerusalem as the capital in accordance with the border territories established in 1967.
As the protector of the Islamic holy sites, Saudi Arabia strongly condemns attacks on the Haram Al-Sharif and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Royal Government also condemned any changes in the historical and religious identity, and legal status of these holy sites.
Saudi Arabia claimed that the Palestinian people have suffered over a long period of unjust occupation, arbitrary and racist oppression as well as attacks on illegal settlements.
On the other hand, Saudi Arabia expresses respect for those who remain steadfast and continue the struggle in preserving their land, children and sanctity.
Saudi Arabia asserted that it will continue to support the Palestinian cause and has always been a pioneer in helping Palestinian refugees.
According to the 2019 report of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, Palestine is the second largest recipient of aid from the Royal Government after Yemen.
Aid amounting to 352.9 million US dollars has been distributed by Saudi Arabia to the Palestinian people in 78 humanitarian projects which include the provision of foods, clean water, sanitation and shelters as well as education and health facilities.
