Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Prophet Idris عليه السلام who was also known among Ahlul Kitab by the name of Enoch is the fifth generation of the Prophet Adam عليه السلام, from a father named Jared bin Mahalalel.
Ibn Ishaq mentioned that Prophet Idris عليه السلام who was born in Babylon (now an area located about 94 kilometers southwest of Baghdad, Iraq) had encountered his great-grandfather, Prophet Adam عليه السلام for 308 years.
According to a hadith from Abu-Dhar, Prophet Idrees عليه السلام was the first person who started writing with a pen. He also sewed clothes and wore them. Earlier, people covered their private body parts with leaves.
Allah ﷻ glorifies Prophet Idrees عليه السلام in Surah Maryam (19): 56-57, which means: ” And mention in the Book, Idrees. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet. And We raised him to a high station.”
