Indonesian president attends Prince Mateen’s wedding reception

Prince Abdul Mateen married a granddaughter of the Royal Advisor, Her Highness Lady Anisha Rosnah binti Adam.

 

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo met the invitation of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah to attend the wedding reception of his son, Prince Abdul Mateen, in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, Sunday, January 14, 2024.

The president, who arrived at Brunei International Airport on Saturday afternoon, January 13, 2024, was welcomed by the Minister of Defense II, Major General (Ret.) Pehin Halbi bin Mohd. Yussof, Head of the Royal Brunei Police Force Mohammad Irwan bin Hambali, Head of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Major General Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Achmad Ubaedillah and his wife, as well as Defense Attaché Colonel Arm. Doddy Suhadiman and his wife.

Previously, President Joko Widodo paid state visits to the Philippines and Vietnam on January 9.

During the state visits, the head of state was accompanied by Chief of the Presidential Staff General TNI (Ret.) Muldoko, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of State-owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir, Head of the Would-be Indonesian Capital (locally known as (IKN) Bambang Susantono, and a member of the Presidential Advisory Council Gandi Sulistiyanto Suherman.

While in Bandar Seri Begawan, the president and ministers stayed at the Assaara Guest House provided by the Government of Brunei Darussalam.

When they arrived at the Guest House, President Widodo and his entourage were welcomed by diplomats at the Indonesian Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan as well as representatives of Indonesian citizens living in Brunei.

In addition to the Indonesian president, Prince Abdul Mateen’s wedding reception will be attended by many other heads of state. Prince Mateen was the third son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah’s second wife.

The series of wedding events lasted for 10 days, from January 7 to 15, 2024, and the wedding ceremony was held on January 11, 2024, at the Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque which is located in the center of Bandar Seri Begawan city.

Presidents and state leaders from all over the world will attend the wedding reception which will be held on January 14, 2024 at the Nurul Iman Palace.

The joy of the people of Brunei Darussalam in welcoming Prince Mateen’s wedding can be seen from the many decorations and billboards in public places in Bandar Seri Begawan City.

Apart from attending Prince Mateen’s wedding reception, while in Bandar Seri Begawan, President Widodo held meetings with Brunei businesspersons who are members of the Investment Consortium chaired by Princes Anak Putri Hajjah Amal Rakiah.

Princess Anak Putri Hajjah Amal Rakiah is the younger brother of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and owner of the company Ameerah Al Mubarakah SDN BHD which operates in the property sector and in the food and beverages sector.

An investment consortium she leads is expected to invest in IKN of Indonesia.
