Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attended a meeting with several Chinese businesspeople in the Indonesia-China business forum at The Peninsula Hotel, Beijing, Sunday (Nov. 10).

In his remarks, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized his country’s commitment to building strong cooperation with China in various fields, according to the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat in a written statement as quoted by Indonesia Window, Monday.

“We want to continue to cooperate and synergize with China, which has again been in an important position in the world. We want to be part of this awakening. We view China as a great power not only economically, but also as a center of civilizational power,” Prabowo said.

The head of state views the active participation of Chinese businesspersons as an important element in strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

The president also pointed out that in a constructive meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday (Nov. 9), Indonesia expressed its commitment to strengthening collaboration and synergy between the two countries in a number of areas.

“We are optimistic about the future and view this close cooperation between Indonesia and China as a factor that will stabilize and improve the atmosphere of cooperation in the region. We must be an example that in this era, cooperation—not confrontation—is the path to peace and prosperity,” he said.

On that occasion, a number of memorandums of understanding showing the commitment of Indonesia and China to expand investment in various sectors were also signed.

President Prabowo also conveyed Indonesia’s commitment to creating a friendly investment climate by providing facilities and supports for investors.

“We welcome more investment. And we will work hard to provide a good atmosphere, adequate facilities, and a warm welcome for our brothers and sisters from China,” he continued.

President Prabowo believes that cooperation and collaboration would be able to build understanding, leading to the prosperity of the two countries.

“Let us work together for collaboration, understanding, peace, and prosperity for all people—your people, my people, and peoples across Asia and the world,” he said.
