Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Hajj pilgrims has applied social distancing by keeping a distance of at least 1.5 meters between each other while performing tawaf qudum (circumambulation around the Kaaba on arrival at the Grand Mosque in Makkah) on Wednesday to start the pilgrimage.
The pilgrimage journey begins on the 8th of Dhulhijjah, known as the Tarwiyah Day.
On that day pilgrims perform tawaf, followed by sa’i or walking seven times back and forth between the hills of Shafa and Marwah.
Afterwards, the pilgrims leave for Mina, about eight kilometers from the Grand Mosque, and spend the night here before leaving for Arafat to perform wuquf (silence while praying) at the 9th of Dhulhijjah as the peak of the hajj.
All hajj rituals are carried out by applying very strict health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
