COVID-19 – Indonesia distributes over 111 mln doses of vaccine

Bogor, W Java (Indonesia Window) – As of Thursday (Aug. 19), Indonesia’s state-owned vaccine manufacturer Bio Farma has distributed 111.84 million doses of vaccines, consisting of three million doses of CoronaVac; 85.98 million doses of COVID-19 Bio Farma; 15.35 million doses of AstraZeneca with COVAX scheme, bilateral and grant; and 7.51 million doses of Moderna.

Meanwhile, the stock of COVID-19 vaccines at Bio Farma is 11.8 million doses, consisting of 1.8 million doses that have been released, and 10 million doses of CoronaVac which are waiting to be released, according to a written statement from Bio Farma received here on Friday.

In addition, in August there will be additional 8.4 million doses of COVID-19 Bio Farma’s vaccine stock, and another 23.3 million doses in September.

Bio Farma Corporate Secretary Bambang Heriyanto said all the vaccines would be distributed to 34 provinces in Indonesia, after passing the quarantine period and sampling process, and getting a lot release from the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (locally known as BPOM).

Lot release is a requirement from the World Health Organization (WHO), which obliges the drug authorities of every country to evaluate the test results and/or review the lot/batch quality document of a vaccine to ensure the quality of each vaccine lot/batch.
