Indonesian president, Emir of Qatar witness signing of MoU on strategic dialogue

Emir of Qatar, Indonesian president have witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the governments of Indonesia and Qatar.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, and Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, have witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the governments of Indonesia and Qatar.The signing was held during a meeting between the Indonesian president and Emir of Qatar at the Amiri Diwan Palace, Doha, Sunday, April 13, 2025, according to the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat in a written statement quoted by Indonesia Window on Monday.The document entitled 'Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Dialogue between the governments of Indonesia and Qatar' was signed by Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono and Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.The memorandum is an important milestone in strengthening bilateral cooperation through the establishment of a Strategic Dialogue (SD)In addition, the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) will also be held as a preparatory forum for the SD, while Ad Hoc Working Groups can be formed to work on specific cooperation programs.The Strategic Dialogue aims to encourage more intensive cooperation in various strategic fields, including those on politics, international and regional issues, defense and security, economy and energy, agriculture and food security, tourism, science and technology, health, sports, youth, protection of Indonesian migrant workers, and collaboration in various multilateral forums.The signing of the Memorandum reflects the strong commitment of both countries in expanding and deepening mutually beneficial bilateral relations.The signing of the Memorandum is also expected to strengthen the role of Indonesia and Qatar in responding to global challenges together.The day before, President Prabowo and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El-Sisi signed a Joint Statement on Strategic Partnership between the governments of the two countries, following a meeting at Al Ittihadiya Palace, Cairo, on Saturday, April 12, 2025.
