Jakarta (Indonesia Window – The embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Jakarta expressed strong condemnation of the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate facilities in Damascus, Syria, which occurred on Monday (Apr. 1).The blame was conveyed in a written statement received by Indonesia Window here on Tuesday, stressing that the egregious act represents a clear and serious breach of international law, including the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.Such an assault on a diplomatic mission not only undermines the safety and security of diplomatic personnel but also contravenes the principles of sovereignty and non- interference that are cornerstones of international relations and diplomacy.The international community, alongside the United Nations, must unequivocally condemn this violation and take decisive steps to address and rectify this transgression. It is imperative that the aggressor be held fully accountable for its actions, which have blatantly disregarded the norms and conventions that govern peaceful and civilized interactions among nations.The Islamic Republic of Iran reserves its inalienable right to pursue all necessary measures to protect its interests and ensure the safety of its diplomatic missions around the world.“We shall consider a proportionate response to this act of violation to prevent the recurrence of such reprehensible transgression. Iran reserves the right to take countermeasures against the attack and shall decide how to punish the aggressor.”The Embassy urges the global community to reaffirm its commitment to the sanctity of diplomatic missions and the principles of international law.“We call for solidarity in rejecting any form of aggression against diplomatic facilities and personnel, which are vital for the maintenance of international peace and security.”The Islamic Republic of Iran remains committed to investigating all facets of this incident and ensuring that justice is served.“We stand resolute in our determination to safeguard our national sovereignty and the dignity of our nation on the international stage.”The Embassy reiterates the Islamic Republic of Iran's commitment to investigate all aspects of this abhorrent attack thoroughly.
