Indonesian government launches one map policy to accelerate development

Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of efficiency in managing the country’s potential and resources. In addition, the government also needs to prioritize policies that provide benefits to the people.

 

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo represented by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto officially launched the One Map Policy Geoportal 2.0 and the White Paper One Map Policy (OMP) Beyond 2024 as well as delivering the achievement of the National Strategic Project Achievement (locally known as PSN) and Special Economic Zones (known as KEK), here Thursday (July 18).

Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto hopes that the One Map Policy Geoportal can create space efficiency and accelerate development, according to the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat in a written statementuoted by Indonesia Window here on Friday.

“The one map policy is expected to create efficiency and avoid overlapping use of space, so that the development process can be faster,” Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto said.

Acceleration ​​is needed to run an effective government, the Minister of Defense said adding that in the midst of global competition and uncertainty, the government must be able to provide certainty and an efficient business climate to attract investment.

“We need investment, for that, we need a good climate. We need good governance. This one map policy has apparently succeeded in reducing overlapping space utilization in a short time,” Prabowo noted.

The defense minister also emphasized the importance of efficiency in managing the potential and resources owned by Indonesia. In addition, the government also needs to prioritize policies that provide benefits to the people.

“I am very optimistic. Our wealth is enormous. Our potential is very large, but we have to be more efficient. We must manage it well, adopt sensible policies, and we are determined to mitigate leaks, mitigate fraud, mitigate policies that do not benefit the national interest and the interests of the people,” he stressed.

According to him, the presence of digital programs in various fields is very important to create effectiveness in the government and accelerate the national development.

“With programs like this, ‘one map policy’, with e-catalogs, with technology in all fields, it is very possible for us to reduce inefficiencies. I am confident and believe that policies like this will produce good results. With these special economic zones and national strategic project programs, we can accelerate the development,” he said.
