Indonesian Embassy in Khartoum holds joint iftar

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Khartoum, Sudan, on Friday (March 24) held an iftar activity and Tarawih prayers for the Indonesian community, including students, in the courtyard of Wisma Duta (a guest house). (The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs)

The joint iftar which was held in a simple but solemn manner was attended by representatives of all elements of Indonesian community, including the big family of the Indonesian Embassy in Khartoum, the Indonesian Student Association (PPI), and Indonesian professional workers in the capital of Sudan.

 

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Indonesian Embassy in Khartoum, Sudan, on Friday (March 24) held a joint iftar (fast breaking) activity for the Indonesian community including students in the courtyard of Wisma Duta (a guest house).

The Indonesian Ambassador to Sudan, Sunarko, emphasized in his speech the importance of improving the quality of worship, including social piety and other productive activities, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a written statement as quoted by Indonesia Window on Monday.

In addition to increasing the number of worship services for the month of Ramadan 1444 H, joint iftar activities and congregational tarawih prayers (special non-obligatory prayers) are also intended to strengthen ukhuwah (brotherhood) and friendship of the people and Indonesian citizens in Sudan, Sunarko said.

The joint iftar event which was held in a simple but solemn manner was attended by representatives of all elements of Indonesian community, including the big family of the Indonesian Embassy in Khartoum, the Indonesian Student Association (PPI), and Indonesian professional workers in the capital of Sudan.

The activity began with breaking the fast by enjoying typical Indonesian snacks including compote as well as melon juice and various fried foods which create an atmosphere full of intimacy.

The event was continued with the maghrib prayer in congregation led by Ustaz Sofyan Muslimin and the tarawih prayer led by Ustaz Musa Albarqi.

According to Ambassador Sunarko, the month of Ramadan could also be a driving force in efforts to achieve the best achievements in various fields.

On the occasion, Sunarko also advised the attendees to maintain a healthy lifestyle considering that the pandemic has not been fully resolved and especially when facing quite extreme weather changes in Sudan.

Meanwhile, Ustadz Fahmi Umar in his tausiyah (message) invited the audience to maintain and improve the quality of prayers, including Sunnah (non-obligatory) prayers, completing the reading of Al-Quran and increasing alms in the holy month of Ramadan as an effort to achieve a perfect level of piety.
