Performing a diplomatic mission in Indonesia is a unique opportunity to interact with a friendly, open, and culturally rich society.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) –Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Indonesia, ASEAN, and Timor Leste non-residence, Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, reiterated his country's commitment to continue supporting Indonesia in achieving shared goals amidst increasingly complex global dynamics.
This was conveyed at an iftar (fast breaking) event with Arab ambassadors in Jakarta on Monday (23/2), according to a press release received on Friday.
Present at the event were several prominent national figures, including the Chairman of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI), Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin, Minister of Religious Affairs, Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin Umar, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Nasir. Also present were two former Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Alwi Shihab and Retno Marsudi, as well as Yenny Wahid, daughter of the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Abdurrahman Wahid.
In his remarks, Ambassador Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri emphasized that Ramadan is not just a religious ritual, but a momentum to strengthen unity and deepen dialogue between nations.
“Ramadan teaches generosity, solidarity, and empathy. These values are deeply rooted in both the Emirates and Indonesia, and are an important foundation in building real collaboration," he said.
Ambassador Al Dhaheri views Indonesia as a trusted partner and bridge-builder in the region, a country that consistently prioritizes moderation, dialogue, and sustainable development.
According to him, carrying out a diplomatic mission in Indonesia is a unique opportunity to interact with a friendly, open, and culturally rich society.
In the context of bilateral relations, Ambassador Al Dhaheri emphasized the UAE's commitment to continue supporting Indonesia in achieving shared strategic goals.
Cooperation between the two countries continues to grow in various sectors—from the economy, investment, renewable energy, to humanitarian—is considered to have great potential for expansion.
Strong diplomacy, he said, is key to deepening mutual understanding and strengthening regional and international stability.
The event also welcomed three new ambassadors who began their diplomatic missions in Indonesia, namely Palestinian Ambassador Abdulfatah Al Satri, Lebanese Ambassador Salam Al Ashqar, and Qatari Ambassador Dr. Sultan Mubark Al Dosari.
Their presence marks a new chapter in multilateral diplomacy with Indonesia as an inclusive and strategic host.
In closing, the UAE Ambassador highlighted the importance of humanitarian action as a key pillar of his country's foreign policy, in line with the vision of the leadership of UAE President, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
One of the latest initiatives introduced is the 'Edge of Life' campaign, a global movement that targets saving five million children from the threat of starvation.
This program emphasizes that international solidarity is not merely rhetoric, but rather concrete actions that have a direct impact on the global community.
Through this meaningful Ramadan diplomacy, the UAE and Indonesia demonstrated that strategic partnerships are not only built in formal negotiations, but also through warm encounters that strengthen trust and a shared vision for a more stable, inclusive, and sustainable future.
