Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Slovakia is Indonesia’s trading partner in the Central European region and has the potential to become a hub of Indonesian markets in Central and Eastern Europe.
Indonesian Ambassador to Slovakia Adiyatwidi Adiwoso A made the statement at the annual Indonesia-Slovakia 2021 business meeting on Thursday (June 24) under the theme Business without Boundary: Expanding Market Access for Indonesian and Slovak Businessmen.
The online meeting was organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Bratislava and attended by government officials from both countries, as well as Slovak and Indonesian business players.
“Geographically, Slovakia has a very strategic location because it is in the heart of Europe. Likewise, Indonesia can become a hub of Slovak markets in the ASEAN and Pacific regions,” said Ambassador Adiyatwidi.
She added that although there have been trade relations between the two countries, there are rooms and opportunities to enhance bilateral ties in several other sectors, such as those on information technology, medical devices, services, and food (wheat).
The annual business meeting also held a hybrid one-on-one business matching between six Slovak and Indonesian entrepreneurs who are engaged in foods and beverages (canned foods, coffee, and tea), bio and halal halal (permissible in the Islamic laws) products, defense equipment, as well as the energy and manpower sectors.
The business matching is a follow-up to the Virtual Business Clinic organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Bratislava on June 9, 2021 for Indonesian micro, small, and medium enterprises to penetrate the Slovak market.
The Indonesia-Slovakia annual business meeting is also a kick off meeting for the Indonesia-Central Europe Countries (INA-CEE) business forum which will be held hybrid by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 14, 2021, aimed at enhancing the economic relations between Indonesia and Central and Eastern Europe.
