Only 1.56 mln foreign tourists visit Indonesia in 2021

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia from January to December 2021 was recorded at 1.56 million people, or a drop of 61.57 percent compared to the same period in 2020, according to the Statistics Indonesia on Wednesday (Feb. 2).

Based on the mode of transportation, during January–December 2021, the agency recorded 137,240 foreign tourists visiting the archipelagic country by air, 415,470 by sea, and over 1 million foreign tourists by land.

Most of the foreign tourists coming to Indonesia during that period were East Timorese as many as 819,490 (52.61 percent), followed by Malaysia as many as 480,720 (30.86 percent), China 54,710 (3.51 percent), and others as many as 202,400 (13 percent).
